Malaga. Avenida del Comandante Benítez
I followed the Avenida augustina Heredia to the Guadalmedina river.
The mouth of the river is located on the territory of the port, before which it is crossed by four bridges-Carmen, Antonio Machado, beyond them you can see the trusses of the old railway bridge, another in the port. On the left is the Garcia Lorca College, followed by a high-rise building with interesting examples of modern monumental painting.
From the mouth to the Purcel bridge, the Guadalmedina still looks like a full-flowing river, thanks to the fact that it once had an old Harbor with a deep bottom.
Further on, the riverbed is completely dry, and even in places overgrown with grass.
Only on the sides are made concrete channels for passing rainwater.
The lower course almost disappeared after the river was blocked by the Limonero dam to the North of the city. The river comes alive only in the rainy season.
Now the dry riverbed is used by residents for walking and sports.
And the concrete-clad banks are painted with cheerful graffiti.
The Centro de Arte Contemporáneo is located on the promenade of Comandante benítez.
Funny sculpture in front of the entrance to the Center.
