Fuente de las Tres Gracias, Málaga

On the northern edge of the city park (Parque de Málaga) is the circular Plaza Del General Torrijos, in the center of which is decorated with a fountain in the style of "Parisian" neoclassical. In European cities, you can see many fountains in a similar spirit, and most of them have a direct origin in the sculpture workshops of the French capital. This fountain, purchased by the Municipality of Malaga in 1879 and originally installed on the Plaza Mayor (now Plaza de la Constitución), is no exception. Since then, the fountain has changed its "address" twice: in 1901 it was moved to Plaza de la Marina, and in 1914 it was installed at the roundabout at the end of Paseo del Parque.

The structure is made of cast iron in the sculpture workshop of Antoine Duren, where it was practically mass-produced and was available for order from the catalog. The original model was made by the sculptor and goldsmith Jean-Baptiste-Jules Klagmann in 1864, commissioned by the city of Melun, and installed on the Place Saint-Jean. Three female sculptures were allegories of the rivers that flowed through the department: the Seine, the Marne and the Yonne. In Malaga, this sculptural group was named Three Graces.
