The date of the founding of the Brotherhood of the Risen Jesus (Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús Resucitado) is unknown, it is first mentioned in documents from 1564, but after 1760 there is no evidence of its activities, it is assumed that it was dissolved. The society was revived in Spain in the sixties of the twentieth century among the traditionalists (Carlists) and initially served as a cover for their meetings, since in Franco's time all informal meetings were prohibited

Now members of this society participate in processions that are held on Good Friday. They can be recognized by the white cassock with a black hood worn over a red shirt, black shoes and white socks, and the medal of the Risen Christ on a white ribbon.

In Nerja, the Brotherhood of the Resurrection was formed in 1966 on the initiative of D. José Cobos, and in the same year it participated in the Easter procession. In 1972, the brotherhood made its first procession in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Hermandad De Jesus Resucitado Y María Santísima De La Asunción is located in Calle Puente Viejo, 50 meters south of the public parking lot. A distinctive feature of such churches is a large gate on the facade, from which a platform with a figure of Jesus is taken out on holidays. The building is built in an eclectic style, where you can see elements of neoclassicism and regionalism, as well as Andalusian ceramic ornaments.
